Developing methods for hydrate plug formation risk assessment
Multiple fluid samples from more than 30 wells taken over a period of more than 20 years were analyzed for vertical and horizontal variations in composition. The initial study showed vertical variations in compositions were too large to be caused by any gravitational or thermal effects. As part of the horizontal study gas inflow points were found, and regions of low permeability were identified - all of which was later confirmed by a geological survey.
