Houston: PVT Simulation and Flow Assurance
October 20 - 22, 2009
The course will cover all key elements of PVT simulation including
- Fluid handling
- QC of fluid compositions
- Compositional input to PVT simulator
- C7+ characterization and lumping
- Characterization of multiple compositions to the same pseudo-components
- Clean for mud contamination
- PVT modeling
- Equations of state
- Viscosity correlations
- Handling of mixtures with water
- Reservoir applications
- Simulation of PVT experiments
- Regression of PVT data
- Compositional variations with depth
- Input to reservoir simulators
- Flow Assurance
- Wax and asphaltene precipitation
- Gas hydrates
- Wax deposition in pipelines
- Input to flow simulators
The theory will be presented in lectures and exemplified through hands-on exercises in the use of PVTsim. After taking the class participants will know how to QC fluid compositions, how to make regression to PVT data and they will have knowledge of the best practices for EOS modeling. Participants will also know how to utilize PVTsim's capability within flow assurance for calculations on solids precipitation, such as hydrates, asphaltenes, wax and scale.
Who Should Participate
Engineers engaged in reservoir simulation and flow assurance studies, laboratory staff and others interested in applying PVT simulation software for calculation of oil and gas phase behavior and fluid properties. With its mix of theory and practice the course is appropriate for those who want to learn to use PVTsim as well as those mainly interested in PVT simulation models.
Lecturers
