PVT Simulation
Course description
This is a 3 days PVT simulation course. Sufficient time and instructions will be given to allow the attandants to also understand the theory behind and the applicability of PVT simulation features outside their own primary field of expertise. Get to know PVTsim as a toolbox. Learn how to enter a fluid composition and do basic calculations. Get to understand the importance of a correct fluid composition. Be introduced to the most commonly used models in PVT simulations. Find out what PVT experiments are standard performed on oil and gas condensate mixtures. Learn how PVTsim can be used as a preprocessor for other programs as for example Olga and Eclipse.
The course consists of an even split of presentations, demonstrations and hands-on exercises.
Course outline
The following topics will be covered- Introduction to PVTsim
- How to navigate and operate PVTsim
- Compositional analyses
- QC and input of fluid compositions
- C7+ characterization
- PVT experiments
- Tuning to experimental PVT data
- Compositional variation with depth
- Viscosity models
- Gas hydrates, wax and asphaltenes
- Export of PVT/black oil properties to other simulators
Who should participate?
Those who would like to get to understand the concepts of PVT simulation and learn how to use PVTsim. Those who plan to use PVTsim as a preprocessor for other software as for example Olga and Eclipse.
To get an optimum benefit of the course a compositional understanding is a prerequisite. Familiarity with/frequent use of technical software in general is advantageous.
Lecturers
Calsep engineering staff.
