PVT Simulation
The Course
The course will cover all key elements of PVT simulation including
- Fluid handling
- QC of fluid compositions
- Compositional input to PVT simulator
- C7+ characterization and lumping
- Characterization of multiple compositions to the same pseudo-components
- PVT modeling
- Equations of state
- Viscosity correlations
- Handling of mixtures with water
- Reservoir applications
- Simulation of PVT experiments
- Regression of PVT data
- Compositional variations with depth
- Cleaning for oil based mud contamination
- Input to reservoir simulators
- EOR experiments & MMP simulations
- Flow Assurance
- Introduction to Wax & Asphaltene simulations
The theory will be presented in lectures and exemplified through hands-on exercises in the use of PVTsim. After taking the class participants will know how to QC fluid compositions, make regressions to PVT data and will also have knowledge of the best practices for EOS modeling. Participants will also know how to utilize PVTsim's capabilities within flow assurance for calculations on wax and asphaltene precipitation.
Who should participate?
Engineers who would like to get a strong understanding of the concepts of PVT simulation and learn how to use PVTsim. With its mix of theory and practice the course is appropriate for those who want to learn to use PVTsim as well as those mainly interested in PVT simulation models.
Lecturers
Calsep engineering staff.
