Houston: PVT Simulation for Flow Assurance
March 6 - 8 2012, June 5 - 7 2012, October 23 - 25 2012
About the course
This course gives a comprehensive overview of PVT for systems where solids may form. The course begins with equilibrium modeling for two phase systems (gas/liquid) and then expands to multiphase systems where water and solids are present in addition to gas and oil. Finally the course will cover simulation of transport of solid wax in multiphase oil and gas pipelines.
The following topics will be covered
- General fluid handling in PVTsim
- Input to PVTsim
- PVT experiments and PVT reports
- Compositional analysis
- QC of fluid compositions
- EOS modeling of petroleum fluids
- Equations of State
- C7+ characterization and lumping
- Viscosity tuning
- Multiple fluid EOS modeling (Mixing and Same Pseudos)
- Modeling of Polar components
- Water
- Salts
- Hydrate inhibitors
- Solids equilibrium
- Hydrates
- Wax
- Asphaltenes
- Solids Transport
- Wax deposition in pipelines
- Input for external simulators
- Use PVTsim fluid model to provide input for other simulators, like OLGA
Who Should Participate
Engineers engaged in simulations on petroleum fluids with an emphasis on flow assurance. The course focuses particularly on fluid and pipeline modeling in situations where solids formation poses a problem for production.
