To fulfill specific needs not covered by the PVTsim standard configurations Calsep offers customized PVT software solutions as a consulting service. These solutions will most often be built on the PVTsim Open Structure technology, which will ensure full consistency with PVTsim. Currently flash and hydrate calculations are available through PVTsim Open Structure.
Calsep may deliver customized software solutions with the following fronts ends
The exact user interface is defined in a dialogue with the client. The software solutions are always delivered with a User Guide and/or Help menu system.
Examples of customized software solutions Calsep will be able to deliver are
Calsep has a successful track record in providing allocation software addressing both simple and complex production scenarios. A simple problem could be to calculate the gas and oil flow rate at standard conditions based on flow rates measured by a meter at elevated P&T. More complicated solutions could consist in allocating the production to a process plant back to the individual producers.
Calsep can deliver software solutions for online use determining the amount of methanol or glycol to be added to a pipeline to avoid gas hydrate formation. Often multiple wells with varying water contents are producing to the same pipeline. With a varying water cut the amount of inhibitor needed will also vary. The required dosage of hydrate inhibitor can be calculated based on fluid compositions, flow rates of individual streams and T&P in the pipeline.
With the Flash Open Structure module as the starting point a program application could be developed that will check the dew point of a mixed gas against a specification value. Liquid dropout is generally undesirable in gas pipelines and may cause severe damage if lead to a gas turbine. For given gas compositions and mixing ratios the dew point of a mixed gas can be calculated as either DewPoint_T at given P or DewPoint_P at given T.
Calsep will be able to deliver customized software solutions that can be used to plan production from multiple wells each having different H2S concentration without corrosion becoming an issue in the process plant. The process equipment is typically made of a material that cannot stand H2S concentrations above a known maximum. A customized solution could test out varying production rates from the individual wells and check what the resulting content of H2S will be in the streams inside the process plant and in the produced gas and oil.
