With more than 30 years of experience training industry personnel on PVT and phase behavior of reservoir fluids, Calsep offers training programs for reservoir engineers, process engineers, engineers dealing with flow assurance or multi phase flow metering, laboratory staff, and others that need to apply PVT simulation software in their work.

The training programs are designed to make the best use of PVTsim Nova to solve a variety of engineering tasks related to PVT and reservoir fluid behavior. With a mix of theory, hands-on exercises and case studies, the training programs offer a full insight into the models and methods used in the PVTsim software. It is the intention to adhere to Calsep’s open book philosophy when it comes to documentation of applied simulation principles.

The courses are taught by the engineers developing and using the software, giving the best pre-requisites for obtaining qualified recommendations on the use of PVTsim and in-depth knowledge about the applied methods.


PVTsim Course For Reservoir Engineers

Fluid compositions and experimental PVT data are the basic input for simulations in PVTsim. The user of a PVT simulator should therefore have knowledge of how the data is measured, how to use and interpret experimental PVT data as well as to operate the PVT simulator. The course covers EoS modeling from the stage of sampling until the export of the final EoS model to a reservoir simulator or other third party software. The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of how to best make use of the experimental PVT data for equation of state modeling in PVTsim.

Flow Assurance PVTsim Course

The course covers the options in PVTsim, which are important to carry out reliable flow and process simulations taking into account possible formation of gas hydrates, wax and asphaltene. The course will emphasize the importance of a correct representation of the phase distribution of aqueous components. It will be demonstrated how to reduce the time spent on EoS modeling by making use of PVTsim’s automated options for quality check and regression to PVT data.
