    Asphaltene Precipitation

Asphaltene precipitation from reservoir fluids may occur as a result of

  • Natural depletion
  • Gas injection
  • Spatial variations of the reservoir fluid composition
  • Gas lift operations

Calsep may consider asphaltene precipitation in EoS modeling projects. When gas injection is under consideration, the effect of different injection gases on the asphaltene precipitation potential may be investigated. With such studies at hand preventive measures can be taken.

The change in asphaltene concentration with depth in a reservoir may be investigated considering the influence of gravity and a thermal gradient.

Asphaltene modeling can be conducted using either a cubic equation of state or the PC-SAFT equation.
